There is life, that much we can be pretty certain of. There may be an after life (and the debate is still on) now I want to know if there is a beforelife™ !!!
It certainly is a baffling subject to say the vey least. And I think that by and large the primary motivator for people to have such a strong attachment to the idea of an afterlife is the fear of the unknown, the fear of dying. Sometimes it's almost funny, like the ultimate Santa Claus game we all (or most people) play for all of our life. I keep wondering, why is there so much crying when someone dies, shouldn't we be happy they finally get to go to heaven?
But man, this deal about a beforelife™ sure is intriguing. I just read a quote by a fellow blogger that said something along the lines of:
"I was doing fine for about 2 billion years, then about 40 years ago I was born and all the inconveniences begun. Now I keep getting crankier by the decade and I can't wait for this to be over"
That totally cracked me up. It is true to a certain extent. Although there really is no way to know what happens before we are born, so what do we know right? But, at the same time we really have no idea still of what happens afterwards. Sure, we draw conclusions, make up stories or believe the tales we are told by preachers or the ones written in ancient books, but then there is so many of them! How can we know for sure which one is the correct one?
At this point is not even a 50-50 chance, I think by now is more like a 1 in 90 or so chance that we pick the right one (maybe more).
Damn.
So, if we don't know what happens after we die, and we haven't really given much thought to where we come from, what we are left of is what do you know… The Present! Go figure. A lot of times the last place where we really are, always worrying about the future, or the afterlife, or whatever.
We are left with today matters the most, right now, this flying second that is passing as I type this (or you read it) is what is most important and where we find our "purpose." Because the way I see it purpose is not a final destination, but a continuous everlasting moment taking place where we are in the moment.

Great post. I agree entirely. Everyone has their own take on an "afterlife", but it seems irrelevant as it can only ever be speculation.
I won't clog your blog up with my ramblings, but if you go onto my blog and scroll down slightly to a song called "Clockwork", i think that sums it up beautifully.
We are so quick to ignore the present, but make assumptions to what the future holds when we can never, ever be sure about it.
